Embrace the Present: Let Go of the Fear of Endings

Chapter 1: The Joy of Now
Currently, I find myself residing in the UK, and I couldn’t be happier. I adore our home, the wonderful friendships I've forged, and the vibrant city nearby. The scenic walks I take with my dog fill me with joy, as do the restaurants that have become my regular haunts. Even the weather, with its beautiful seasonal transitions, captivates me in ways I had never encountered before—especially with daffodils blooming everywhere!

Section 1.1: A Bittersweet Reality
Despite my love for this place, I am acutely aware that my stay is temporary. My husband is participating in an exchange program between the Canadian and British armed forces, which means we have a limited time here. We are scheduled to depart in the summer of 2023, which feels alarmingly close, despite being over a year away.
Lately, I've found myself consumed with planning trips, feeling as if time is slipping away from us. Instead of focusing on the adventures that lie ahead, I find myself fixated on what we may miss. The thought of leaving my friends behind fills me with sadness, and I worry about finding safe spaces for my puppy to explore when we return to Canada. The prospect of not seeing my family in France as often is equally heartbreaking.
Subsection 1.1.1: Living in the Moment
I am consciously striving to shift my perspective. We have plenty of time left to create memories here.
If I dwell on the endings, I risk missing the richness of the present. This mindset prevents me from fully engaging with experiences and people; I subconsciously try to cushion the emotional impact of our eventual departure. I remind myself that I must embrace the now.
Section 1.2: The Power of Presence
Thus, let this serve as a reminder for both you and me: rather than fixating on when experiences will conclude, we should immerse ourselves fully in them. Be present, remain open, and relish every moment.
Chapter 2: The Importance of Mindfulness
The first video, "You Need To Stop Focusing On The Past," emphasizes the necessity of letting go of past regrets and fully engaging with the present moment.
The second video, "Stop Focusing on The Future. Focus on Today Instead," encourages viewers to appreciate the here and now rather than worrying about what lies ahead.
