Section 1.1: Huawei Watch Fit

My recent acquisition was the Huawei Watch Fit. It was an impulse buy triggered by a significant price drop on Amazon, coming in at just 60€.

Huawei Watch Fit

As a long-time Garmin enthusiast, I’ve owned two Garmin watches, which are known for their accuracy and reliability. However, I found their designs somewhat uninspired for more formal occasions. My search for alternatives led me to consider options like the Samsung Watch 4, Amazfit, Xiaomi Watch, and other Huawei models, ultimately concluding that the Huawei Watch Fit offered the best value for money.

What I Appreciate

The square design of this smartwatch appeals to me, especially the rose gold variant, which complements my accessories beautifully. The running metrics it provides rival those of Garmin, thanks to Huawei's previous partnership with First Beat. For a casual runner like myself, the training effect metrics, VO2 max, and recovery time are more than adequate.

The sleep tracking capabilities are also impressive, surpassing what my Garmin Venu SQ offers. While pulse oximetry might seem unnecessary unless you have specific health concerns, I plan to test it during my next flight for fun.

Drawbacks

The price reduction indicates that I purchased an older model, as a new version is now available at around 130€. The wristband attachment isn’t a universal 20mm, which means I can’t use my previous bands, though replacements are easily found online. On the plus side, the Bluetooth connectivity is strong, ensuring I receive notifications in real time, albeit without the ability to read full messages or view images.

Section 1.2: Samsung Galaxy S21

While my earlier tech update focused on the Samsung S22, I found the S21 at a significantly reduced price, allowing me to purchase a 256GB variant for just 649€.

Samsung Galaxy S21

The S21, though last year's model, remains supported with updates for at least another three years. I bought this phone in April 2022.

Pros

I sought a compact smartphone that I could operate with one hand, and the S21 fit the bill perfectly, especially at its price point. The camera quality is exceptional, crucial for capturing moments with my young children, and with the price drop, I could afford the 256GB variant, perfect for my offline music needs.

Cons

While the newer S22 and the iPhone mini are more compact, I’m content with my choice. Adapting to the in-screen fingerprint sensor has been a minor adjustment, but manageable.

Section 1.3: MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro

My biggest surprise came when I purchased the MacBook Pro 14 with the M1 Pro chip. While I initially awaited the MacBook Air M2, the unexpected price hike led me to opt for this powerful machine, which I upgraded to a 1TB disk.

What I Love

This laptop has exceeded my expectations! The M1 Pro chip’s performance has allowed me to retire Google Colab, as it handles deep learning model training with remarkable speed.

The stunning display features ultra-thin bezels, and the keyboard is incredibly comfortable. The sound quality from the speakers is impressive, making it enjoyable to use without headphones.

What I Dislike

The only downside is that the keyboard and metal surface easily show fingerprints, making it appear older than it is after just a couple of weeks.
