Hello there!
Nourishment for our bodies encompasses a variety of elements, such as food and beverages, meditation, restful sleep, prayer, physical exercise, positive self-talk, and more. With so many responsibilities, it can feel overwhelming to find the time to care for ourselves, the vehicles for our divine message.
Regardless of our perceptions of time, our bodies will signal when it's necessary to rest or make healthier choices. However, we shouldn't wait for our bodies to signal distress or for preventive health issues to arise. We have the power to prioritize our well-being and consciously choose activities that invigorate rather than drain our energy.
Every day is an opportunity for growth, and we must trust that the positive actions we take now will yield fruitful results. Some intentional practices I engage in for both my family and myself include:
- Creating a weekly or monthly meal plan that incorporates specific days for omega-3-rich foods, grains, and healthy alternatives. I ensure that every meal—and often snacks—includes fruits and vegetables, particularly greens.
- Engaging my children in conversations about balance, moderation, and the nutritional qualities of food. I teach them my mantra of "enjoy some now, save some for later," inspired by a beloved childhood candy.
- Maintaining a consistent bedtime and wake-up routine. Adhering to our schedules and aiming for quality sleep supports our bodies in fulfilling their intended purpose.
- Allocating time for activities, play, and walks. Walking in nature is one of the most effective ways to clear the mind while promoting physical movement.
- Praying with my children multiple times a day. We discuss our purpose and ensure they have time to engage in the activities they cherish.
