Pursuing an IT Career as an Artist: A Dual Journey

Balancing Art and IT: A Personal Exploration
I find myself on an ambitious journey, aiming to establish a home art studio (currently in progress, with my sewing machine right beside me as I write) while simultaneously preparing for the IT certification exam, which is essential for various Help Desk positions that don't require a college degree. Since I began my studies, I've discovered that I already possess much of the knowledge needed for entry-level remote Help Desk roles.
I can simplify complex tech terms into everyday language, check. I can troubleshoot hardware issues remotely and know when to escalate problems, check. My self-directed learning journey began at age 13 when I taught myself HTML to create a Geocities site. My passion for IT is as strong as my love for fabrics and colors (my oil paints are also ready to be set up in the studio).
However, I feel a pressing need to streamline my focus. The constant pull between IT and art is distracting, preventing me from excelling in either area. My hope is that, after years of navigating the "real world," I will find my niche in one or both fields.
Understanding the Nuances of Writing
Through my research into online writing, I've realized there are numerous writing styles, making it difficult to pinpoint a specific focus. I've decided to concentrate on a type of content that complements my goal of becoming an IT professional: communications. My aim is to break down the IT concepts I'm studying and relate them to real-world experiences, reinforcing my understanding and enhancing my ability to convey this information effectively to others. After all, translating complex technical details into comprehensible language benefits everyone.
Currently, I'm developing practice questions for each study module and answering them in a flashcard format using an Excel spreadsheet, all while referencing the actual study materials. I'm utilizing Chat GPT for crafting these questions and answers based on the modules, providing me with an additional layer of support since I can't afford the official textbooks at this time.
Finding My Focus in Public Practice
There are countless ways to practice publicly; I just need to refine my approach. Once my studio is complete, I'll be able to create videos showcasing sewing techniques and share my painting and jewelry-making processes. There's a wealth of artistic and technical activity happening in my life right now. This structured plan gives me a clear vision for each endeavor, ensuring that every action I take has a tangible, measurable outcome.
My primary goals are to pass the final IT exam and embark on a remote IT career, while also watching my studio come to life and creating more art within it. I also hope to share my artistic creations with others! What an exciting future awaits!
