Building True Friendships and Achieving Success

Chapter 1: Understanding True Friendships

True friends are those who elevate you, never abandon you, and will point out when you're not putting in the effort. It's crucial to recognize who your real friends are; failing to do so could leave you vulnerable to betrayal. The path to self-improvement can feel isolating at times.

During much of my high school experience, I faced bullying—a sensitive topic for many. If you're a young man dealing with bullies, know that there's a straightforward solution.

Now that I’m stronger, most people treat me with the respect I deserve. However, it's essential to realize that many individuals remain quite immature and childish. As a man, it’s vital to stand your ground and not allow anyone to walk over you. If you permit this, you risk losing respect and remaining stuck in a negative cycle. Recovering from such a situation later in life can be incredibly challenging. At almost 21, I'm working hard to catch up.

You must eliminate all toxic influences from your life. Remember, you are the average of the people you associate with. Reflect deeply and ask yourself: "Are these individuals truly supportive? Can I rely on them?" If the answer is no, cut ties without hesitation. Wasting your time on negative influences only hinders your growth.

As long as you’re dedicated and can rely on yourself, you will be okay. No one else can bring you genuine happiness; that’s a responsibility you must take on yourself.

Commit to this plan for thirty days:

  • Hit the gym regularly
  • Eat nutritious meals
  • Keep a journal to express gratitude and reflect on your day
  • Avoid pornography
  • Stay off social media
  • Rise early, around 5-6 AM
  • Limit screen time overall
  • Read books

After these thirty days, you may find it hard to revert to your old habits. Life becomes much simpler when you understand that happiness doesn't rely on others. As you enhance your life, you'll naturally encounter like-minded, successful individuals who will contribute positively to your journey.

Beware: people often dislike those who outshine them and will attempt to pull them down. Don’t let this happen. Ignore the negativity. Everyone has potential, but the vast majority—97%—choose not to utilize it. Stay humble and let your actions speak louder than words.

Never compromise your values for someone else. Doing so means you stand for nothing, and without principles, you risk becoming insignificant. Just because a group holds left-leaning ideals doesn’t mean you must conform. Don’t fear being canceled; if it happens, you can simply return to your path of self-improvement.

Interestingly, women often find it appealing when men hold firm to their opinions, even in the face of differing views. This demonstrates strength and the ability to protect. Conformity equals weakness, and we need more strong individuals.

If you’re still unclear about my message, consider this: when you observe someone acting weak, aim to do the opposite. Your drinking buddy likely won't stand beside you in a conflict, as they may lack the strength to back you up. It's crucial to put in the work to achieve success, especially in a world where social media has made the game ten times tougher than before.

Feeling discouraged is normal; you might feel like you're fighting a losing battle against smarter people who understand how to manipulate the human psyche. They want you to engage in behaviors that keep you complacent, filling their pockets with your attention. Thus, it’s essential to limit your exposure to distractions—social media and pornography can easily consume you if you let them.

Remember, it's perfectly acceptable to fail. Don't expect success on your first attempt. You will likely stumble during your self-improvement journey. What will distinguish you from others is how you respond to setbacks. Will you allow failure to keep you from moving forward, or will you pick yourself up and continue striving? To succeed, you must identify distractions and find ways to maintain your focus, as there is no universal solution.
