Chapter 1: Embarking on My Medium Adventure

I began my writing journey on February 6, 2024, coinciding with my entry into the Medium Partner Program.

At the start, I only garnered about five views each day. However, I remained undeterred, recognizing that I was launching my efforts on a brand-new account without any followers. I understood it would require time to generate momentum. Diverging from the advice of many seasoned Medium writers, I opted to follow individuals whose content resonated with me or those who had previously engaged with similar topics.

"This is a classic case of mass following killing your engagement!" I can hear the critics now.

But contrary to that belief, it hasn't negatively impacted my experience.

From the outset, joining several publications significantly boosted my visibility. Special thanks to Danny Wolf, Bin Jiang, and Carl Jeffers; their platforms enabled my stories to reach a wider audience. Following others has resulted in approximately 20 views daily from individuals I connected with, and around 20% of them reciprocate by following me back. Since these individuals share my interests, this strategy has proven beneficial.

After all, how can a novice writer attract attention without an established follower base? Following others has enriched my feed with stories aligned with my niche and aspirations. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

As illustrated in the screenshot above, my views remained modest until February 24. So, what triggered the shift? The answer is simple: I changed my approach.

That was the day I committed to writing multiple stories each day, inspired by DeryaSefer's remarkable journey from earning just $0.19 in November to making $500 in a single month as a newcomer on the platform.

In a mere five days of implementing this strategy, my daily average views surged from 15 to over 50—nearly a fourfold increase. If I maintain this consistency, I anticipate reaching triple-digit views daily within weeks, if not sooner.

Now, let’s address the financial aspect. You’re likely curious about my earnings to gauge whether investing time in Medium is worthwhile.

While the amount isn't substantial, considering I only began this journey a little over two weeks ago—with 90% of my earnings coming in recent days—I'm quite satisfied. Based on my current views and reads, I project my earnings for March to be in the range of $200 to $300.

These estimates stem from analyzing my daily earnings and applying a conservative growth forecast. Even if I land on the lower end at $200 next month, that would be an impressive feat for my first complete month on the platform.
