Understanding Abundance vs. Scarcity
It's vital to recognize that a scarcity mindset can push away opportunities and diminish the joy in our professional lives.
As Marianne Williamson wisely stated, "The key to abundance is meeting limited circumstances with unlimited thoughts."
On day 54 of my 100-day gratitude journey, I found myself reflecting on my tendency to mistake overworking for passion. Today, I joined a new LinkedIn professional group, as I thrive in environments filled with positive ideas from diverse individuals. These spaces encourage openness, learning, and giving back.
However, I often feel disheartened when I encounter networking groups where the focus is solely on relentless hustling. It's frustrating to scroll through posts that feel like endless sales pitches, all echoing the same scarcity-driven energy. Just today, I experienced this in my new group, and it struck me: I have been unconsciously embodying a scarcity mindset myself.
Section 1.1 The Irony of Scarcity Thinking
A persistent inner voice often prevents me from taking necessary breaks throughout my workday, convincing me that I haven't earned them. Many who overwork may relate. I deny myself simple pleasures like a refreshing swim or a stroll among olive trees, all because I tell myself, "I can't afford to stop."
This mindset is nonsensical. I work for myself, from home, without a supervisor watching my every move. My narrative of unworthiness is not only false but also ungrateful. I am blessed to have this lifestyle, yet I squander it by clinging to outdated beliefs.
Section 1.2 The Cycle of Scarcity
The reason I find myself in groups filled with scarcity-driven entrepreneurs is that like attracts like. What you project into the world comes back to you.
It's time to break free from the constraints of small thinking and let success find its way to you. Embracing an abundance mindset means accepting the opportunities already available in your life. Scarcity is merely a poor habit, one that holds you backānot just in terms of finances, but in overall fulfillment.
Subsection 1.2.1 Challenging Limiting Beliefs
We must challenge the thoughts that keep us trapped in repetitive cycles. Life passes quickly while we remain stuck in routines that yield little change. Real transformation demands awareness and the courage to address underlying issues.
To that end, I commit to shifting my beliefs about deserving breaks. I will be kinder to myself, allowing for moments of rest and leisure, such as enjoying a swim in my pool.
